It's Tengen-Toppa Gurren-Lagann.
It's what happens when you let a group of drug-taking Japanese Animators who prefer to write a bunch of crazy, introverted stories of despair and madness(GAINAX, the guys who made Neon Genesis Evangelion if you've heard of it), and force them to create a saturday-morning cartoon anime.

the miserable high school boys.
If we were girls, we could get popular by doing anything:
rock band, jazz band,
karate, kendo, mahjong, cyborg, synchronized swimming...
On the other hand, high school boys are
useless outside battle and sports anime.
But they're recklessly trying to make a slice-of-life anime about us.
