OOC: Well, it's not a lift, but Ark would still remember it as an exit. Also, this is going to be the last post that Ark's mind mud will appear in (for a while, at least). He was suppose to only be in one post, but I find it's a great way for you guy to know Arks thoughts.
IC: The hunting party was starting to move, causing a certain level of panic to flow through Ark.
'Damn, I need to get out of here now, before they seal off any other escape routes.' he thought, quite simply and bluntly.
'Well, there is a tunnel at the other end of this room, a chute in the back, a door that probably leads back into the cafeteria, and there is of course the door you came in on.' his subconscious thought back to him lazily.
'Wait, how do you know this?' Ark asked it.
'I'm your mind!' it replied back, rolling its nonexistent eyes.
'Yeah, but your just part of my subconscious, you wouldn't know that.' The little mudokon opened his mouth, as if too speak, and then closed it with a quizzical look etched onto its face. Finally, it shrugged and thought, 'I don't know. I just do.'
'Can you be any more annoying?'
'Yes. But really you have two options, and they depend on whether you want to run or hide.' it finished, fading into smoke.
Looking back towards the room in large, Ark looked over the many crates, barrels, and sacks that were stored in the room. There were more areas in shadow than light, and what light there was, was dim. The group was still in the center, none of them had really moved just yet. Ark knew that sligs weren’t trained how to use their weapons, sure they could easily hit a target moving straight at (or away) from them, but it was hard for them to hit a zig zagging target that was going in and out of shadows. He also knew that shadows and mudokons were a problem for a slig’s visor; the combination of a target that didn’t give off a heat signature, and of normal vision looking into darkness, caused confusion for them.
‘I don’t know what would happen if I went back into the cafeteria, but it would probably be bad.’ Ark thought to himself, ‘So I guess I’ll try the tunnel at the end.’
The only snag in the plan was the slog. It couldn’t smell him, but it could hear him; which meant that it would only be confused enough if there was something really loud, like… a gun firing. ‘Damn’. Ark’s continued existence seemed to be riding on the hope that this slig would act like a normal slig, and shoot at him.
Ark let out a long sigh. He slightly repositioned himself to get ready to jump.
