it seems kind of strange that a forum that lets a thread about bestiality with Oddworld creatures remain open and then closes this thread, which was clearly comical in intent.

Zoophilia, not bestiality. It is the difference between thinking an animal is attractive and forcibly pressing your intent on it.
And surely the fact that the thread was comical
detracts from its worth, considering it had almost completely degenerated into spam by the third post.
EDIT: Misread Used
's post, I'd say the obvious reason that that thread was built up as a laugh rather than being an attempt to forcibly cause a flame war due to controversial opinions.
