Cloverfield (72)

I was actually going to post yesterday in this topic, but I got adding the Oddicons and time got the better of me. I want to try and sound neutral here as I don't want to offend any memebers... as everyone here is a great person, even if I don't agree w/ their opinions.

First off I just want to say that Sydney was just doing his job as administrator, he would have said the same thing to anyone else, so don't take it personally SteelShark... and from you're later post, I'm sure that you won't.

The thing I guess is is that some people are more easily offended than others... this applies to everyone. Some get offended easily by names, but others shrug it off like water off a duck's back. Others don't like the way that people talk about something or refer to something. I personally get offended when people say that Lorne and OWI sold out to Microsoft for money (no offense TF, just the way I feel), but I'll move onto that later. On a forum it can be very easy to offend someone, and although it may not be meant in a nasty manner, it can be interpreted that way (once again, that goes for everyone and different things). So it's kind of hard to know if you are saying something wrong. I guess all people can do is leave the differences behind and move on. That's what I find is the best thing to do. But on the other hand I don't like to hear that a member of the forums has been crying. *extends sympathy to TF*

OK... well that's my boring Administrator rant over. I hope I didn't offend anyone there.

I of course am a supporter of the Xbox, and of any decision that OWI has made in the past, present or future. I've made that clear before. But I do strongly disagree when people try to say that Lorne and OWI sold out, actually I hate reading that. I had this argument with many people over at the Infogrames Forums, and believe me, there were a lot of nasty and degrading comments coming from furious PSX/PS2 fans over there. As it has been stated a million and one times before, OWI made the decision mainly due to the limitations that they were faced with on the PS2, mainly limitations that would have meant Munch's Oddysee not being the way that they intended it to be. The Xbox came along, and Oddworld saw the opportunity there and grasped it. Not only that, Microsoft gave OWI the support that they never got from Sony. E3 is one recent example... Oddworld have never had an opportunity to have that kind of exposure. Look back at the PSX releases of Abe's Oddysee and Exoddus, they couldn't even make it onto the shelves on the release date, and that was no fault of OWI's. Anyway, I have to disagree that Lorne owes people an apology, he doesn't owe anything like that to anyone. The decison was made for decisions that OWI knew would be best for not only Munch's Oddysee, but for the future of the Oddworld Quintology (well the next 5 titles at least).

I am not bias towards only one console. I have a large favour towards the Xbox for reasons of the Oddworld kind, but I am open to other consoles also. I want FFX to come out on Xbox also, but if that doesn't happen, I'm not going to condone Square for not releasing it on Xbox. I'll just have to save my money for an PS2 (which will be a good thing anyway). And with some of SteelShark's views I'm even willing to look at the Gamecube.

However the majority of people here would be pro Xbox, or at least pro OWI if they don't 100% support the Xbox decision.

There will always be console wars though for as long as there are multiple consoles. It probably would be easier if there were only one console in the world, but then that would be like saying that Coke was the only "cola" soft drink, or Nike were the only runners in the world.
