I think Abe's bound to change a bit every time he appears in a game or movie. Not drastically, just because of the quality improvements (compare AO Abe with MO Abe, that's what I mean).
I wouldn't exactly call MO's Abe an improvment. He looks like a varnished wax model.

As for the voice, we have already seen an example (or two, I don't know how Abe sounds in MO... German version...). But I think the voice change between AO and AE was good, I prefer the latter version. When the movie comes out, we might hear an even better voice, you never know.
If Abe's voice changes, they are at risk of losing many fans. In Munch's Oddysee, Abe's voice was a combination of AO and AE voice, which I feel works best for the fun world of the games. But I feel in order to make the Movie really dark natured, they may have to use the AO voice - He seems more of a pathetic, innocent victim, the unlikely hero with that voice.
