I call bullcrap on this one. A fruit is defined as being the swollen ovary of a flower. Ergo: a strawberry is not a fruit, rather the seeds on the outside are fruits called achenes with contain the true seeds inside.
Similarly, the fruit of an apple is actually the woody core inside, the flesh we eat is not part of the fruit itself, being derived from the floral tube.
