I actually like it how they're all one speacies, brings accross mucgh more varities, think of it as humans and their supposed "races" (Race is an incorrect word, human is a race, hence the term "human race", so a "white" and "black" man are the same race).
I think they add to the uniqueness of OW, and set them apart from the rest. Then again, it could be a misunderstanding, outlaw could be a group like mamels and reptiles, which seems likely, as they all look like different types of reptiles, crockodiles and iguanas for example.
