Most of the time they don't have a choice, and they're persuaded that they're doing what's right, and what's for the best for their people and religeon.
How are they any different from the KKK who kill african americans, or the spanish who slaughtered the aztecs, or the catholics who slaughtered innocent villages in the holy wars, told that they needed to fight for their religeon.
I think everyone is innocent in all of this, everyone but the leaders.
Of course, it's the usual story, and it's a quote aswell, old men declare wars, young men fight them.

Everyone is innocent? When you strap a fucking bomb on yourself and walk into a marketplace you are not innocent. Don't be so naive. Anyone can tell themselves that what they are doing is right if you try hard enough. But you have to be a special kind of fucked up to convince yourself on this sort of thing. You are apparently that special kind of fucked up.
