T-nex, as said by molluck's assistant, CS is designed to attract a new audience, and help people who weren't attracted to OW, becuase well, it was too odd to be in or something, and then they admire OW's work, and give the OW francise a second chance.
Kind of like the original star wars, it was considered geeky or nerdy to watch it, but then it become so popular, that the mainstream auidence started watching it too.
And as Lorne said previously, it's much easier for us to relate to a human character.
I'm sure OW's heart still lives.
Think as CS as paving the way fro OW, or their first step, as it is their first movie, and they don't want to screw up the whole OW series, so they send in a test dummy, a baby step somewhat, CS.
