God, I just saw 2001: A space oddysey.

Actually, I've just seen this film for the first time only the other day, on TCM.
I quite liked it, overall. I'm sure it's a film to grow on you. But yeah, that scene was pretty sad, it was just the utterly calm, childlike voice of HAL what did it. That and the scene goes on forever, like every other scene in the film.
What struck me most about the film is just how well it holds up in terms of effects to Modern Stuff. I know people say
Star Wars still looks amazing and things, which we all know is crap, but most of this film still looks just fantastic. Apart from the very '60s/'70s sci-fi interiors, but they're a lot of fun.
