It says ‘Portal’ on the image. To the left it says ‘Welcome to Edumm’. From what I remember of my time in Asia, many hilltribes have traditional gateways, more like arches made with branches, that are to do with channelling the spirits of nature, keeping bad spirits out of the village, or guiding the souls of the deceased to their next life. Maybe this portal in Necrum is meant to guide Mudokon spirits to Edumm, the Mudokons’ Heaven or Nirvana.

Or maybe it’s just an entranceway.

Are you trying to say that this portal could be the passage to the "better life" like the Buddhism, the Nirvana?
