Come to think of it, we shouldn't celebrate it either. It's different from the usual holidays that had a pure, decent moral background. Thanksgiving was never founded on anything "decent." When we were in school, we were taught that the Native Americans and the Pilgrims sat down and had a big, delicious meal, followed by the two groups living in harmony.

Then we grew up. And we still eat turkey for some reason. Which is fine with me, because turkey is delicious. Viva la rape and pillage.
Thanksgiving is giving thanks for the harvest. It is descended from European harvest festivals, it is a harvest festival. However, everyone focuses on that one Thanksgiving in the Plymouth Colony in 1621.
