It sounds like you are up to Sorceress Adel in the Lunatic Pandora.
I can't remember what exactly I used or equipped. But GFs are not a good idea to use... because they attack multiple targets. And because Adel is holding Rinoa, if you use a GF, then you will damage Rinoa. The key is to keep Rinoa alive while trying to defeat Adel. If Rinoa dies, it's game over.
Adel will drain HP from Rinoa every so often, so you need to cure her occasionally too. The best thing ever in FFVIII is the Recover ability (available to the party member who has Leviathan junctioned) ... as you can fully restore HP without haveing to wast full-cures.
If you are using magic attacks, ensure you are only using magic that attacks a single target ... other than that, I just used some good ol' physical attacks.
