Very true. It’s also been ten years since Abe’s Oddysee was released, about the same length of time between then and the time Lorne first started writing the stories that evolved into Oddworld. That’s plenty enough time to have developed the story in ways we can’t predict. It’s also possible for him to use ideas that weren’t developed until later in OWI’s history: characters and places we wouldn’t normally associate with Abe. What I’m positive will stay true is the art, emotion, humour, quirkiness, values and message that make Oddworld stand out from anything else out there.
