Maybe, but honestly, if someone came up to you and said "Please kill me now, if you don't, all I will do is spend 10 years in perpetual agony, unable to move or see or anything before dying" how could you not kill them, knowing that all that would happen to them afterwards is nothing but suffering and then dying anyway?

Whilst I do agree with you in principle, it would be rather rude of them to ask that of you. It would be so much more courteous to take care of it themself.
