The words massive and online are problems here. It usually takes several years for a hired, skilled developer team to make a mmorpg, or any other game, and to run a mmorpg requires huge servers, dedicated supportteams and loads of other stuff, so I have problems imagining how fanmade freeware is compatible with the term mmorpg...  |
It does take several years, but it is not beyond the compass of a labour of love for a few dedicated coders. A prime example would be
this astonishing piece of work, and I urge you to explore the site just to appreciate the sheer scope of it (especially the videos).
