Talking about Oddworld environments, you amy notice that Paramonia is a forest of pine trees. This kind of tree only appears in high latitudes (north of USA, Canada, north of Europe, for instance) and because of that, I suppose that the winter season, if there is one, can be as hard as Earth winter in the regions I mentioned above.
The plants of the palm tree forest in Necrum vaults, however, are more adapted to tropical climates. I guess winter here is not as hard as in Paramonia.
