Of course, he's just trying to be provocative as such a view-point makes precious little sense. I'm guessing that by 'despise' he's referring to the fact he thinks of it as mental illness. Which is quite a silly thing to say, since if you want to go down that route you might as well start saying left-handed people are a bunch of mentlers, or those who love their pets more than people.

So, given that you do, Pat, see it as a mental illness, what's to despise? Surely pity and compassion would be nearer the mark?
