Now that we are 5 days later can I say I find Independance Day the most arogant holiday I have ever heard off?

Seems like a pretty good reason for a holiday to me. Much better than Australia Day, which pretty much celebrates the arrival of white people and syphilus to wipe out the Aborigines.
Tony Blair actually said a few months ago that Britain needs a national holiday similar to Australia Day. We all found that most amusing as it's generally regarded as the second-most pointless public holiday ever, after The Queen's Birthday (which occurs two months after her actual birthday, at a more convenient date).
