ooc: I'm expecting Prae to break down any second now...
Venks, Zozo, maybe you should go read W@RF 1. It's a good story and it might help you a little with your RPing. One of the original characters was a big bro slig called Jammer who had a generally violent disposition but it wasn't until several ingame days had passed that he actually shot another employee. By that time a sort of emotional attachment had built up between the players (and anyone reading the RPG) and the character who was shot, so it had some affect.
#10's been in the factory about ten minutes (note slight exaggeration) and he's been killed completely out of the blue. We haven't had any time to get to know him, there's been no character development and because of that he's looked at the same way you look at the thousands of sligs you possess, shoot, explode or in any other way maim, harm or kill when playing through the games: he comes off as little more than an NPC, and I'm sure that's not what you want for your character.
Anni getting shot this morning was more effective cus she's been around since part three and everyone knows and loves/hates her.
Give characters time to be characterised before you start maiming, harming and killing them. And if eight other people have been maimed, harmed or killed in the last 4 hours then don't bother at all!

"Sorry," Anni whispered and smiled weakly at Dean, "Let's just get away from here please? Reminds me too much of Stivik and of vykkers." Her smile faded and her hand hurt.

Jim was sitting in the toilets, feeling nervous (unsurprisingly) when he heard a voice call his name. Recognising the rather distinctive voice, he hurried to the door and opened it. "Somi!" He said happily.
"Do you know where Anni is?" She asked immediately.
Jim's smile faded. "She was shot earlier, by some crazy slig! We took her to the lab cus she was bleeding and we didn't know what else to do.
Somi felt an odd mix of relief at knowing where she was and worry at the thought of her going to the vykkers. The general result was that she felt pretty much the same as she had before she'd smelt out Jim and asked him the question.
Jim, recognising her concern, opened the door, "Come on," He said, "I'll go and look for her." He was less happy about the idea of going back to the lab with that slig there than his face showed.
As they left the toilet and headed down the corridor they spotted a mudokon evidently cleaning the floor and then beyond him, peering into the shadows were Kix, Dean, the mudokon who had helped Jim out earlier, and "Anni!" Jim yelled and hurried over.
She smiled at him and then down at Somi.
