Things with a large fan base generally have them for a reason and saying you hate a game just because others like it just being a whiny brat wanting to be different. Why Halo is so hyped is beyond me, the story was nice but very incomplete and Halo 2 was a downright disaster. Graphics were fine for that time and the game play was okay but the only thing allegedly keeping it afloat now is because people want to know how the story ends. And thats a big part in many videogames these days, there needs to be a decent story. Halo seemed to have that, were it not for the fact that you are thrown into the story without ANY background info whatsoever. Aliens + Ring Weapon = half baked story, apparently.

Now on to how this reflects Gears of War. GOW has not only great graphics, great gameplay, great humor and a very good replay value, it also has a very good story which you can do a lot of things with. The booklet gives a nice background on the whole thing and is also explained throughout the story. But because at the same time, the opening AND the ending are left open it creates a lot of momentum to use for sequals and/or in this case, a movie.
Gears of War is a game that has met up to the expectations on nearly every front and does honestly not deserve to bashed unless you have played and finished it.
Hating something because other people love it is stupid. Hating something that IS stupid, but other people love anyway, that is your god given right.

I agree on Halo having little details in the games for those who haven't seen the larger picture for the game. Bungie definately teases a lot and a lot of things are alluded to. Precisely the reason I was interested in the books which are great if you haven't read them peeps. Fall of Reach is probably one of my favorite science fiction novels right up there with Ender's Game etc. The characters and the overall story, history of conflict are very much fleshed out (especially since it is commisioned from the "Halo Bible" or the official guide to the Halo Universe that Bungie references a lot. This is one of the main reasons I enjoy Halo so much is the fact that I have read the books played the games and it leaves a much fuller canvas so to speak as well as a fun and entertaining gaming experience.

I think Gears of War the Movie would definately be awesome as a live action film of course as most people are saying only if care and detail are put into recreating it on film. I'm actually excited for both this and the Halo movie simply because the creative teams backing both franchises and the movie counter parts.
