You really don't know any religious people do you? Being religious is not mutually exclusive with intelligence. In fact, some of the most intelligent people I know are extremely religious. In addition, most religions in the world follow some sort of "God helps those who helps themselves" principle. People are commanded to seek medical and any other type of help they can get.
What's more, I think you'll find that your average person is a lot less strict than even they think they are. The moment their health or comfort is threatened, you'll see how quickly they compromise their values. That's precisely what I meant about the increasing atheism of the western world. |
Yea but I'm not talking about present day religion. I'm talking about what it will evolve in over the course of a few hundred years if the current trend keeps up.
