Sometimes it's handy to use both. For instance, I have two gmail/google groups/etc accounts and I keep one logged in in either program. So the one I visit regularly is logged in on firefox and the one I only need to check once a week or so is in IE.
One thing that does piss me off is that when I take my laptop to uni, I need to change the proxy settings in IE also because many programs take them directly from IE. Even if I'm using the Quicktime plugin in Firefox; it won't work until I update the IE proxy settings.
