I noticed that it became quite a custom here that certain politicians don't show up at national memorials if they don't feel like it. It's rather boring after a while: one party turns up, the others stay at home.
Boos and jeers are one thing. A politician here received a few eggs when he showed up somewhere.
At least he must have realised by now that he's not exactly popular around the place. I don't know how it's done over there, but I guess he's supposed to go to opening days and such. There's no possible reason to miss such things, especially not personal ones. Hiding in a closet never solved anything, did it?
