I don't think Munch would asleep, the Vykkers probably want to make him feel pain while he's awake
. Maybe it was Humphrey...I don't exactly remember this cutscene, but maybe when Irwin came in, it startled Humphrey and he made a mistake of something. That's also maybe why Humphrey got so upset.
