I resent the thought of ever shaving. I mean, I do have a little hair just above my upper lip, but not much. The only reason I haven't shaved it off it because my mother tells me constantly that if I do, then it will continue growing after that like an obnoxious weed.

That's a myth. If you shaved today, you
would find that in a few months your facial hair will start growing faster and thicker but I can guarantee that there is no causal connection between those two events.
That said, I can understand the desire to not shave. It's one of the most inconvenient tasks a person has to perform (well... dealing with menstruation is probably worse) and I have to wake up ten minutes earlier in the morning if I have to do it. I look forward to the day when I can afford laser hair removal and banish my beard for good.
