I was under the impression that those images were proof of concept shots that were done before the Grubb designs had been finalised - so they used Muds as stand-ins.

But they were done in 2001, before the release of
Munch’s Oddysee, so there wasn’t yet the impetus to invent Grubbs. They’re more likely concepts for
Munch’s Exoddus.
