Their build seems completely unadapted at tackling Elum

I always thought that their legs could be used to push them off the ground and make sort of like a launching movement. And their hard back could be used to tackle their prey down to the ground. While the prey is stunned, the rest of the Meech pack could rip apart their prey.
@Zerox: Now about that Paramite vs. Meech thing, I figured that could fit better in a MO environment. After a certain distance, the two packs would stop and try to scare each other off. If the numbers of the two are relative, then they go into attack. If one has more Meeches or Paramites in numbers, the smaller pack will run off.

I jsut can't see Paramites doing well against an Elum.

I can. The Paramites would try to actually chase Elum into a corner if they are great in numbers. And since Paramites actually hop while they sprint, they could get a big bite into the Elums' necks and chests in midair. Elum seem to be doomed in such situtions.

They probably prey on other prey species about Mudokon size and weight, or certainly smaller than Elums, but since they aren't existant yet, that's the best guess I can make.

You mean like Meeps?
