For instance, if a thread was closed, only to be re-opened for another moderator who wanted to get in the last word.

I so agree with you! It's just like when someone defames you then sends PMs to all the mods to get a thread closed before you can defend yourself. Or when he then goes on about how you've abused your power when you actually don't have any in that forum.
I suppose I could sum my opinion up by saying what really pisses me off is people who prefer to spend their lives with their brains switched off.
