The Mudokons always wear them, as they are a part of their culture. So it would seems presumable that they get a pair and keep them for life.

I don’t like that logic. I almost always wear clothes, and it must be a part of my culture, because it’s illegal for me not to do so in public. I don’t keep my clothes for life, primarily because they get worn out. Likewise, I don’t think Mudokons are worried about throwing the odd loincloth away when it’s reduced to tatters. It’s not as if they’re made from anything non‐renewable or non‐biodegradable.
