The best movie where they do "the rope trick" is called Boondock Saints. It's about two Irish mercenaries who set off to kill local members of the Russian mafia. In one scene they're climbing through the air ducts above a big meeting between two important mafia guys and a whole heck of a lot of goons. They (by accident) break through the airvent and are trapped in their own ropes. They start spinning about the center of the room, unloading uzi's on the bad-guys. One of the funniest action scenes I've seen in a while.
