I wouldn't say all of our actions are rooted entirely to our instincts. I believe it's a combination of things. Like intelligence and personality of the person, the situation at hand, etc. I think saying that our lives are completely based on instincts is too simplistic of a way of looking at things.

Our lives aren't based on instincts, just some aspects. Having children is. People don't realise what is their choice and what is their body is telling them to do something.
