Cullen Heath, it depends, if I want to do a digital drawing or painting.
For paintings, paint over the lineart on layers above so that the main drawing isn't visible anymore in the end. For the latest picture, I scribbled the outline with a smooth pencil and painted on layers below. The outline layer was set on multiply so that I could see what to do. I used a wide transparent brush with a low pressure to get that result. Sometimes, I mix brushes, use hard ones or airbrush for the background.
It's always a sense of the picture content and what technique I chose. There are so many techniques you can you there, it's incredible.
