The first one is the scrab from the other screen. Run towards him and he knocks you through the walls down to there.
The second and fourth ones, you can stand there AS LONG AS YOU WANT and the scrab will not attack.
The third one comes from them ignoring the lift going up while they're fighting.

I know a Scrab waits for another to finish in AE, but timimg would be important. Two Scrabs a normally nearing the end of a fight when another can appear.

Check the screen. All three are on before the fight begins. And for me, all three started fighting at once.
Antoher interesting thing, found this in another level(furthest right, middle height, I think) - Scrabs can fall two entire screens and not die. O_O
