I find the best way to get past them is to roll over the gaps instead of jumping. Then pull up and quickly roll to the next as soon as you get a chance. Still, this method is far from failproof, as they can hit you when you're standing next to them too(I haven't been hit crouching yet, but I generally try to move as quickly as possible).

The rocks can't hit you when you are standing next to them. The bats, however, can.
