It's the public's responsibility to be educated enough to recognize exploitive films like this.
The filmmakers should feel like the total tools they are for making this movie, but honestly, they have every right to make it. It may not be in good taste (as in... it's not), but if the general public didn't lap up shameless garbage like this, then it wouldn't get made.
I'm all for the expression of opinions I don't agree with. It's what makes society interesting. What I'm not OK with is a piece of media milking sentimentalism, and all of these Americans citizens falling for it.
