But if something is stuck "through the heart" I think the person is bound to die no matter what, especially if it struck him as Stattik claimed to be possible, like 4 inches into the chest.

Hmm, I tend to take this point of view most of the time too. I'm really upset when people kill a wild animal that kills a person whose community (or just himself) is too close to that animals' habitat. Grr Arg. You don't want to be maimed by a bear? Don't live in a house in bear-populated mountain areas. (I've heard several stories throughout my life like that back in my home state.)
