Skillya_Glowi, I would have to disagree on your theory on the height of the levels. They are probably around 15'. You just have to measure them by Mudokons. Plus, there is a difference when you fall on your feet, then when you fall on your head.
In my new theory, I believe that Mudokons have engineered wells. They seem to be related to metal and turned almost mechnically. They might be based off of plants, but it doesn't seem natural for the wells to be activated by switches to me. But I do believe that they have high air pressure idea now. It seems like one of the only ways that doesn't have a flaw.
