Wash pushed through the door, dragging Linc behind him.
"Medical emer-!" but the place was deserted. "What the hell?"
There was a gurney-like device nearby loaded with meat, and what looked suspiciously like a skinned slig. Hoping it was just a mutilated paramite, Wash swept everything on to the floor and lifted Linc up. It wasn't easy, but after the third time he managed to flop Linc's body onto the trolley. Now perhaps he could get somewhere!
But the blood had already soaked through the bandages, and Wash did not lke the way the blood flow had slowed. Dek's lab was on the next floor up, so Wash had to get Linc to the elevator. Odd help him if he encountered stairs. When he found out who was responible for that sound...
Sprinting along platforms and corridors, twice crashing at the corners, Wash and Linc finally reached the lifts. But the LCD screen above displayed a demoralising headline.
"WARNING! GAS LEAK AHEAD! DO NOT ATTEMPT ENTRY WITHOUT ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION!

Wash stared at it for a moment. "Jedu sing hed! This is not my best day ever."
