Part two guys, here we go!
Abe’s eyes scanned the sky above him as he sat on the sandy beach. The stars, twinkling with the brightest light, lit up the twilight sky. It had been a long time since he had observed the sky, without the fear of being shot at by Slig Security. Abe’s pale, blue skin shuttered at the mere thought of Slig guns pointing at him. Abe sighed as the waves slowly crashed onto the shore and the palm trees blew in the soft wind. Abe closed his eyes, laid back with his arms folded in the back of his head, and listened to the wind. It was nice, finally being able to relax for a while after all those adventures. And yet he still felt empty.
Abe felt that sinking moment, the moment he gets whenever he is filled with happiness, as he opened his eyes to spy the Moon. After all those years, he still cannot get over his depression that gripped his mind. How many Mudokons were left, how many could he save or are there any more? Just then, as if all of his senses took over, he put his paw up to the paw-like crater in the Moon. He had seen that Moon so many times, yet he was still confused as to it’s presence in his life. He knew he was the savior of the Mudokons prophasised in Scrabania and Paramonia, but why him? Why not some other?
Before Abe could finish his thoughts, he heard someone call his name. Turning to the sea, he saw something occasionally pop up between the waves. Abe ran to the end of the shore and called out to the creature, but no reply. Had the creature drowned? Before he could think, the creature flew out of the waves, screaming, and rammed into Abe, both screaming from fright. Abe and the creature both laid there on the beach for a while, stunned from fright, before they pushed each other off each other. Standing, Abe finally saw that the creature was his best friend and companion, Munch the Gabbit.
“Hey Abe, sorry about the landing. I had to swim all the way around the island from those water pools on the shore!” Munch said as he put his hand behind his head.
“No problem Munch, so, how are the babies?” Abe referred to the baby Gabbits Munch rescued from the evil Vykkers Labs a few years back.
“Oh, they’re fine, except one of them tried to bite my tail.” Munch looked down at his flipper, which had a bruise-like bite mark on his flipper.
“Yeesh!” Abe cringed.
“Yeah, those little guys are hungry!” Munch and Abe laughed and looked out at the ocean. Abe started scratching his butt nervously. Abe was extremely happy to have Munch, his best friend, be there, but he wasn’t always happy expressing himself. It would seem much easier, however, since both he and Munch adventured torturous lands and facilities together.
“So, whatcha been lookin’ at?” Munch finally spoke up.
“Nothing, just up at the Moon.” Abe said, hiding his real thoughts.
Munch looked up at Abe’s Moon, then over to his own Moon and smiled with happiness. It felt good to know that he was being watched out for too.
“Nice night…say, why don’t we see what Alf and George are doing? Alf said to swing by the Rehab for a chat.” Munch asked with enthusiasm.
“Sure buddy, let’s go!” Abe exclaimed, feeling happy that Munch got off the subject of the Moon. Plus, it was nice getting the gang back together to hang out. The two buddies began walking toward the Rehab as Abe took one last look at his Moon before climbing up the rocky hillside toward the Village.
