If you get all of the figments (and everything else) you will reach level 100 (or level 101 if you're really good). This gets you an extra movie. His dad would not allow him to use his psychic powers or to talk about them. He was trying to protect his son from the enemies that his family has.
p.s. to avoid confusion- the scenario I just described is not the bonus movie. You will have to find that out for yourself.
