Punch was too slow to dodge the lightning attack. It struck him squarely on his rump. He felt as though his entire body had been quickly tugged towards the spot of impact, then he fainted.

Meanwhile, Fisher was in a silent rage. He knew that what he was saying was true - why would he hurt someone with such great potential? - but also knew that it would never work.
And they were closing in.
Dave, who had never shot a gun before in his life, was now taking careful aim. He knew that his forward motion would make aim even more important.
Dave saw Fisher staring up at them. He could see that Fisher was having trouble decided what to do. This hesitation, Dave hoped, would cost Fisher his life.
They had flown close enough for Dave to be confident of his shot. He pulled the trigger.
The bullet flew through the fire barrier and directly into Fisher's left shoulder. Dave had been aiming for the chest, and in reality was quite lucky to hit at all. Fisher cried out, more in surprise and outrage than in pain.
But that damage was done. Fisher knew the wound would not be fatal, but it could prove debilitating if not seen to immediately. He cast a look at Dave, gave him the finger, and abruptly disappeared.
