From what I've seen, I guess the psychological horror is somewhat similar.
Silent Hill is more about what you
think is happening just behind a closed door. It's about what places and monsters represent within your character's fractured mind.
From what I've seen, FEAR is more of a "theatrical" psychological horror, with hallucinations and 'splosions and whatnot. I suppose both are meant to make you question reality, although it seems FEAR primarily plays with your head only, since it's seen through your viewpoint, instead of messing with both you and your character at the same time, like in Silent Hill.
Both do things a little differently, but they're still comparable (at least from my limited knowledge of FEAR). Man, I really want to play that game!!
