About the mudokon-in-the-intern thing, how come it's there? Why do interns carry it around with them?

The Intern isn't carrying anything around with him, if you're refering to the above concept art. The eggs are in the background because the Vykkers harvest and stock Labour Eggs. Logically, Interns are involved in that work. It's just a setting for the character.
