She just said that she and her husband ate dinner with some Australian friends, and when her husband said "I'm stuffed" when he finished, they burst out laughing. They said in Australia, that was the same as saying "I'm effed."

Well in that context, surely it would mean stuffed as in 'very full' would it not? The other way stuffed can be used is meaning the same as broken ("Don't use that old television, it's stuffed!").
