If you ask me (and you should :P J/k) I'd say that the enjoyment of sex is the engine that runs the instinct to reproduce. Sex is made to feel good, so the male wants to keep doing it. Why keep up something that doesn't feel good, you know? Not even instinct can force someone into doing something that doesn't feel nice.
