I think I'm right in saying that Alfred was a fantastic person who kept in touch with his inner child, as do all of us that love fantasy and adventure. I doubt he will be forgotten, becuase we'll always had "Alf" the Mudoken and so Alfred will be remember through him. A nice memorial I think...
From what I've found out about Mister Gamble, he loved the fantasy adventure he got out of playing Oddworld games, he sounds the sort of person who would jump at the chance of an adventure. And in my thoughts, death is not the end, but just the next great adventure.
So I say good luck to him on the unknown road.
