Sorry for the extremely long wait everyone. Been busy, and had a short writers block. Anyway, chapter 3 is ready to go!

Chapter 3: A Resistance Fighter
The morning went by slow, as usual. Cars came in, cars went. Dayshift checked in, nightshift checked out and Danny was busy keeping up with the log.
Sometime around noon, Danny's boss checked in. Ronaldo, or Ron for short, your average cigar smoking Glukkon, wrapped up in a cool blue suit with golden buttons and shiny black shoes. Next to him marched his personal assistant; Sonny. Sonny and Danny used to work alongside each other, back in the old days. They were security guards at the Argo Water Facility, a huge dam only a few miles upstream of the river.
When Ronaldo and Sonny reached the booth, Nick nodded at them.
'Boss, Sonny. How are you today?' Danny asked as Sonny flashed the security passes.
'We're doing alright,' Ron responded with his low Glukkon voice. 'Yourself?'
Ron, just like any Glukkon, looked dangerous, pissed off and impressive all at the same time. He was a very friendly guy and a nice boss though, and Danny had always been grateful for that. Things changed a lot, overall the Glukkons behaviour became a lot better after the invasion, but there were still a bunch of them that maintained the old regime whenever they could. Not Ron though, and that was what Danny was grateful for.
'Boring morning on the job,' Danny replied while he logged them in. 'As usual.'
'Hah,' Ron laughed and nodded. He then turned to 'walk' away. 'Thank you, Danny.'
'Anytime, sir!'
Sonny waited a moment while Ron was making his way to the main base. He'd have plenty of time to catch up anyway.
'Hey Danny, there is a security meeting at the end of the day, so don't go home alright?'
Clearly annoyed by the news Danny looked up from his work.
'Are you kidding me? What about?'
Sonny waved a hand into the air.
'The big shots want to upgrade the base's security. They think it's to easy to get in, and we need to figure out how we're going to do that.'
Danny snorted.
'Damnit…' he said to himself at the thought of missing his favourite T.V show.
'Sorry, Danny,' Sonny said, then went after Ron.
Danny leaned out the window.
'Hey hang on! When are we going to get that drink, pal!'
Sonny kept walking but looked back for a small moment.
'Somewhere next week!'
Then he joined up with Ron and soon they disappeared into a building.
'Yea right,' Danny mumbled amused. 'That's what you always say…'

The nice thing about being a security guard at the Norfolk base was that most employees come and go in the morning and in the evening; the rush hour. The rest of a shift was therefore boring as hell. At times you'd have to inspect on a call or a presumed security breach, but those were usually just ratz being annoying anyway.
So during a boring shift as the one Danny was in right now, it was always welcome to have someone come over to talk to. In this case it was Darwin.
'Hey bro!' Darwin greeted as he entered the booth. 'Hard at work I see?'
Danny nodded as he was doodling a few drawings on a sheet of paper.
'Yea, so I really don't have time to sit and chat with ya.'
He smirked and looked back at Darwin.
'Bout time we heard from you. You had Ed and Kevin worried sick.'
Darwin marched over to Danny under loud protest of his rusty pants. It annoyed the hell out of everyone. The guy owned a garage for crying out loud and he owned a pair of pants that looked like they came straight from the scrap yard.
'I'll have it fixed soon enough…' Darwin noted when he saw Danny's expression. 'And somehow I don't believe they were worried sick.'
Danny scratched his head and put down the drawing supplies.
'Heh, okay so maybe their just worried about the rent,' he noted and chuckled. 'But seriously, what's with all the sneakiness the past month? You've been acting funny and leaving early and whatnot for weeks now.'
Now Darwin scratched his head and moved around a little. The squeaking noise of his pants sent chills down Danny's spine.
'That's kind off why I'm here,' he said and let out a small cough. 'I need a favour…'
Danny stared at him in question.
'What kind of favour?' he asked with suspicion.
'Well, I joined the resistance and…'
'You WHAT?!' Danny yelled straight into Darwin's face. 'Are you out of your mind?! What the hell for?!'
Darwin took a firm stance across Danny, pointing a finger at him.
'Because those humans have no right being here!' he shouted then pointed to himself. 'This planet belongs to us. It's our world, and their not welcome!'
Danny laughed heartily.
'And you think their just going to leave because your so called resistance wants them to?' he shook his head. 'I didn't think you would be that stupid, Darwin.'
Darwin however, crossed his arms and gave a calm answer.
'They will go the same way they came, with force. We'll personally kick them out of here!'
'With what?!' Danny almost laughed at the sheer irony. 'The material on this base alone outnumbers anything the resistance has times ten. Don't be a fool man.'
Darwin walked over to the window and looked out at the base. A huge plot of land scattered with huge hangers, buildings, docks and vehicles.
'That's the favour I need,' Darwin said calmly. 'You're an insider, you can shut down the security.'
He turned to Danny as he was getting more excited.
'You can…'
'Absolutely not! Are you nuts? What's the matter with you?!'
'Why not huh?' Darwin asked on a semi-threatening tone. 'Tell me you don't want those creeps out of here.'
Danny shook his head.
'No, I don't. Life right now is fine as far as I'm concerned. I've got an apartment, I've got a job. The only thing I don't like is that I've got a flatmate and friend who is stupid enough to get involved with the damn resistance!'
Darwin took an aggressive stand across from Danny, again pointing a finger at him.
'Tell me you don't want to get the old life back, like it was twelve years ago. Tell me you don't miss that!'
Danny pushed back at Darwin, smacking away the pointing finger.
'No, I don't! Those times sucked!' he shouted back. 'But you wouldn't know anything about that, now would you?'
'Does it really matt…'
'Yes it does matter!' Danny interrupted him. 'You're fighting to get back at a time you don't even know anything about. You're way to young to know about the old days, you weren't even around back then. I was, and I can tell you that I don't want to get back to it, alright?! And neither should you!'
Darwin stood back, looking at Danny for a few seconds. The tension was intense, it could snap any minute.
'So you're not going to help?' he asked calmly.
'No…' Danny reacted just as calm. 'And if you're wise, you get out of the resistance before you get arrested or killed.'
There was another awkward silence. It lasted for a few seconds, then Darwin's pants brutally interrupted it.
'Fine, don't help,' he said while walking to the door. 'But I'm not leaving the resistance.'
Danny by now had picked up his drawing supplies.
'You're making a big mistake, Darwin!'
Behind him the door whacked shut, and a few moments later he saw Darwin walk off trough the window.
'Whatever!' he shouted back.
Danny sighed as he looked after Darwin. He had no idea what he was getting himself into.
