FIENDS, BEASTS, AND MORTAR--The siege of Sekto's lair (cont.)
Umi jumped from behind Stranger, randomly firing bullets from the rifle's barrel to the floor, to startle the unnerved Wolvarks.
The bullets pelted the ensnared Wolvarks through the sticky white web. The pure white material suddenly was soaked in a dark red, where the bullets struck.
The wrapped Wolvaraks howled out terrifyed cries.
Scarlet whisps shot through the spotted uniforms of the Wolvarks. They cringed with every shot taken through their rough skin.
The trapped Wolvarks, however, didn't bother to wrangle out of their traps. They knew it was futile, as each Wolvark security guard fell by their feet, one by one. It was happening so fast, they didn't realize that the Steef was fixed upon them now.
As the Steef approached, their eyes were locked on the ominous green jeweled eyes of it. Their extremeties fell limp from their endless struggle to escape their fate. Its bow opened up to a circular portal, sucking in their tattered bodies.
The webbing eroded from their limbs, as the suction grew stronger and stronger. Their legs fluttered near the green ominous eye of the portal in to its bow. Even clawing at the ground wouldn't stop nor change the Steef's decision of how they were going to end up.
The vacuum popped, as one entered the breeding sack of his bow. The other two continued to fight to be free from their misleading fate. But even thinking of escaping was hopeless for the poor creatures.
The last two popped in to the bow, and the vacuum closed up. He folded his bow back on his large forearm, then got back to his one and only mission he planned to finish.
Stranger and Umi ran up the series of scafolds, until a glass door embraced their path to the entry way of the top of the building.
A stacked barrier of metal boxes also blocked their way. But it was a damn good thing, too.
A heinous, ear-piercing cowl screech pinched fear to Stranger. He grunted at the newfound sound, knowing immediately what it was. He hated the creature ever since he encountered it. The cursed battle cry of it shattered his concentration. He was furious about it, too. Sekto had released another of its damned pets to eliminate the game. Another Gloktigi.
Stranger pushed down Umi behind the crates again, quickly glancing at the Gloktigi that had spun around its pores, and spewing out its green glob of ensnare. The glop pinged off the rusted metal as if they were speeding bullets. The Gloktigi squawked an annoyed tone, ratting its shoed claws on the smooth cement closer to the barricade.
Umi looked despirately to Stranger when she heard another screech from the Gloktigi.
"Not another one!" she whispered.
Stranger popped his eyes over the crates, watching as the creature slowly got closer. He looked down to Umi with seldom eyes.
"I want yer to stay down here, and don't move," he told authoratively.
Umi blinked at him.
"Yer not gonna go at it all alone! It'll mutalate you!" Umi protested.
"And so it to you, if you go with me,"
As he was about to go over the crates, Umi jerked back his arm stiffly. She looked deeply in to Stranger's eyes with solemn melancholny.
Stranger saw the shalowness of his command sparkle in Umi's deep blue eyes. He could tell she really wanted him to take another thought of his decision.
He let out a rash sigh, then smoothed her hair upon her scalp.
"You worry too much about me, Umi," he spoke gently.
"Aren't I not supposed to?"
Stranger quickly let out a quiet chuckle.
"I already told yer," he grinned. "I'm supposed ter worry 'bout you,"
The Gloktigi's cowls were close enough to rattle Stranger and Umi's attention. His bow quickly unlocked, and Umi held her rifle in her hands.
"I'll go first. Wait 'til I say to come out," Stranger nodded.
He jumped over the crates, two rounds of Boom-bat Seekers imploding on the Gloktigi's protective skin. Only a burn mark was seered on its ghostly purple scales.
Umi felt the rifle's weight, it being a little lighter than usual, which meant it needed to be reloaded.
She reached behind her back on her belt, patting only the soft material of her red shirt. She gave a relaxed huff, sliding her hand over her belt all the way. But only the slickness of her rough belt was felt.
"Uh oh..."
Stranger pressed his weight on the back of the crates, the Gloktigi squawking as it ratted closer.
"Stranger!" Umi cried over the boxes.
He grunted concernly, and leaped behind the crates to Umi's eyes.
"What is it? What's wrong?" he asked quickly.
Umi whipped out her belt, her empty Needler and dead Plasma Rifle still straddled on.
"I have no ammo,"
Stranger growled irritatingly.
"Yer call me just ter tell me you have no ammo?" Stranger blinked to her.
Umi looked down with shame. She knew she had done something wrong for a matter of change.
Stranger smoothed the back of his head, looking over the crates.
The Gloktigi still came closer with its claws tapping on the smooth ground.
He looked back to Umi with a skeptical frown. His eyes softened, as he opened his mouth to speak.
"Ok. Just, stay 'ere. Wait 'til it's safe ter come out," he said, then pointed a finger.
"No exceptions,"
Umi nodded understanding.
Stranger also nodded, then leaped over the crate.
His heart almost stopped when he landed.
The Gloktigi was right at his doorstep. It stared deeply in to Stranger's pools of bright lumious eyes, almost piercing his mind with fear.
The Gloktigi seemed to grin with its tentacles dangling loosely over its invisible mouth, as its quick reflexes brought up its large slender arm, and brought it down over Stranger.
It caged him in with its three large claws, as it attacked harder with its second arm over his head.
Stranger stopped the two talons hovering over his head, and almost brought down on his skinned nose.
Umi heard the struggle and tension in Stranger's voice. It almost made her jump over.
Then the cowl of the Gloktigi came just behind her.
Umi jumped up, and climbed over the crates.
The squid-like head of the Gloktigi peered to her face, and its eyes were only at the rebelling Stranger underneath.
"Stranger!" Umi cried.
She looked at the Gloktigi, her eyes frowning down death-defyingly.
Stranger wrangled to look up to Umi. He could see was she was planning by the motions she made.
"Umi..." he grunted.
"Don't do it..."
Umi didn't listen. She crouched down, her muscles in her legs flexed out to her maximum.
She scowled fiercely at the Gloktigi.
Stranger's eyes grew brighter.
"NO!"
Umi leaped off to the Gloktigi's forehead, and wrapped her arms around its smooth head.
The Gloktigi shrieked loudly, stumbling off of Stranger.
Stranger regained his balance. He spun to the Gloktigi that was scrambling everywhere, bumping itself in to every object it could to lose the human off its forehead.
"Jist hold on, Umi!" Stranger shouted.
'Why did yer do it, kid?'
The Gloktigi stopped in its tracks. Its left foot was right by a glass door on the other end near a stacking cart.
Its eye glowed to Stranger, its machinations beginning.
It howled a signal cry, side-stepping from the glass door.
Umi kept wrapped around the Gloktigi, while listening closely near the exit of the inside building.
Thundering footsteps clopped in perfect unison, almost in a straight line as an earthquake.
The glass doors exploded open, and two staight long lines of Wolvark security guards came marching out, with their guns glued in their hands.
Their eyes scowled to the Steef, nodding in appreciation to the Gloktigi and its plan.
Stranger's head shook skeptically again.
"No way..." he growled.
The Gloktigi made a throaty chuckle to Stranger, as the rows of Wolvarks stopped ahead of it.
Umi nearly leaped off the Gloktigi.
The green ensnare seeped out of its pores, coating around Umi's skin.
She was attached to the Gloktigi. Umi growled angrily.
"You filthy bastards," she sneered.
The Wolvarks cackled in her demise.
"Git on goin' ter boss thar," a Grunt nodded.
The Gloktigi didn't take any hesitation, as it passed by the Wolvarks swiftly, and crashing through the windows in to the building.
Stranger snorted furiously, but stood apathetically.
The Wolvarks watched carefully, not noticing that the Steef's rage was building again.
Stranger kept his eyes straight forwards where the Gloktigi escaped with Umi. His lip twitched uncontrollably, showing his stained sharp teeth.
The Wolvarks scratched their bald heads confusidely. Some just looked amusedly at the Steef.
"Aww...did the wittle Steef lose 'is baby?"
Some taunted.
That only made him more aggitated.
"'ey look. Steef's pissed," they cackled.
Stranger breathed heavily, growling noises coming from his throat when he exhaled.
Finally, his anger exploded.
An explosive bellowing roar quaked the officer's insides to a liquified guilt.
The Wolvarks cowered back from the Steef, holding their weapons up to their faces as a defense.
Stranger raised his fists, his head cringing down.
"Sekto you skanky lil'...(censored). I'm-a murder you! YOU HEAR ME!?" Stranger bellowed up in the air.
"I'M-A KILL YOU!"
The Wolvarks gathered their courage, every strand of what was left of it. They slapped down their helmets, and collected their weapons in to their hands again.
"You know boss's orders after the human's caught! Git that Steef!"
Stranger's head smoothly came back down with eyes closed.
He listened to the Wolvark's rhythmitic footsteps.
His eyes snapped open, a bright green with red bloodshot eyes.
The Wolvarks skidded to a stop. They squawked of fear, dropping their weapons again.
Stranger wasn't interested in the cowering Wolvarks.
He wanted that Gloktigi.
And to murder Sekto, with every strand of his strength that wanted to rip him limb from limb.
