I would think they'd keep it as a spiritual mystery in the film. Talking about millenia old near-irrelevant history is probably too self-indulgent for the first film, especially as the moon is not all important to the plot.

I would actually enjoy a prolouge style scene similiar to LOTR at the start of the film. *drools*
